How to modify the Internet connection permissions of the programs installed

Whenever a program without permissions tries to connect to the Internet, the firewall permission displays a pop-up message prompting you to allow or deny the connection.
 

However, you can change the permissions assigned to a program at any time.

To do this:

1. Click Status in the main menu.

2. In the Protection section, click Settings.

3. Select the Firewall option.

4. In the Rules section, click Settings to define the programs that can access the network/Internet.

5. Find the program whose permissions you want change and modify them. You can do this using the drop-down menu that appears on the right of the program name.

Note: If you clear the checkbox Apply the permissions specified without asking, you will see a warning every time the program tries to access the network/Internet. If the checkbox remains selected, the firewall will apply the permissions it decides are necessary for each program. However, you can change these permissions whenever you like.

What permissions can I assign to programs?

• Inbound (server): The program accepts connections from programs or users from the Internet, but it will not have outbound permissions to connect the Internet.

• Outbound (client): The program can connect to the Internet, but does not accept external connections from other users or applications.

• Allow inbound and outbound: The program can connect to the Internet and allows other programs or users to connect to it. There are certain types of programs that need these permissions to work correctly: file swapping programs, chat applications, Internet browsers, etc.

• Customized permissions: This option lets you add connection rules for the selected program. You can allow or deny program connections (inbound/outbound) as well as specifying the ports and protocols you want to use, etc. (+ Information)

• Deny: The program cannot connect to the Internet.

Other options:

• Show operating system programs: If you select this checkbox, the list will show the operating system programs that are accessing the network/Internet.

• Remove program: Select one or more programs from the list and click this button to remove them. These programs will no longer have access to the network or the Internet. The program prompts you to assign permissions the next time the program tries to establish an external connection.

• Regenerate list: By default, allows certain programs to access the Internet without asking for confirmation. If you want to consult you every time one of these programs connects to the Internet, follow the steps below:

1. Click Regenerate list.

2. A list of common programs that can access the Internet without you needing to confirm is displayed.

3. Find the program whose permissions you want to change and clear the checkbox that appears next to it.

• Add program: Allows you to add new programs to the list. If you click it, you must also indicate the location of the program and the type of permission that the firewall must apply: inbound, outbound, inbound and outbound or no connection.

• Whenever a connection is denied log it in the report: If you check this box, all incidents having to do with a rule established in the firewall will be logged in the Network activity report.
